I didn’t knew the lyrics of this famous song until recently I saw it in
My daughter’s rhyme book ;)
Dashing through the snow
In a one horse open sleigh
O'er the fields we go
Laughing all the way
Bells on bob tails ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to laugh and sing
A sleighing song tonight
Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh
Watch the song here ..

Reading to a child
There are many articles which mention the importance of reading to a child. A simple Google search will give hundreds of articles.
Here, I am writing my experiences of reading to my child or rather, Reading with my child.
Reading to a child can start as early as 6-7 months or so. Research shows that we can start much before. Just start with buying a board book and put that together with the toys. Let the kid take it as a toy and enjoy the book. Slowly, when he is playing, read something to him. If it is a rhyme book, say a rhyme, or point to one object and say the word. Do this consistently repeatedly.
Again as he grows older, introduce more books. Just keep the books here and there in different places in the house. And when he is in good mood, show him the book. He should grow with the book.
Depending on his interest, start with story books. Always pick a book which has pictures with bright colors in that. The kids love bright colors.
Read the books repeatedly. Repetition is the key. We might feel bored reading the same thing again and again. But the kids love to hear the story again and again. They will demand us to repeat n number of times. Do it as and when the child demands.
I have realized that reading time is best time to bond with the kid. Make reading a routine of the day. Introduce correct books as per the age.
My guru in this is my co-sister. I have gathered all these information from her. She gifts books to my child as per her age and liking. Its better I ask her to write a post on reading. She is an expert.

Treasured Memories

Motherhood made me realize the importance of treasuring all the beautiful memories of the new born..I had my own ideas...And searching few sites & suggestions from my friends...I came to know that there are lot more we can do for our kids..They will love it (appreciate us ;-)), once they grow up ...
Let's start... (You can note down the date & also capture the moment.)
First Day (D-Day)
1. Take the first snap.
2. Hospital wrist.
3. First dress.
4. First visitors & gifts given by them.
5. Foot & hand print or rather layout.
(You get hand paints which are safe & non toxic).
6. First yawn
7. First smile...etc.
Every Month
1. The day baby was born, you can take a snap
(in the same background,it will show how the baby grows) or rather cut the cake.
2. Write a blog on his monthly developments /mischief’s
3. Keep a record of his height & weight...Etc.
Day by Day
1.Collect all his firsts (toy, comb, cup, spoon, prammer ,towel, dress, feeding bottle, sipper, book
Socks, shoes...etc)
2. First solid food, juice, jam, etc.
3. Capture all the naughty actions
4. First temple.
5. First visit out of town
6. First turn over, crawl, walk, etc (list is endless...)
7. Take a snap of all his collected firsts (else if you can you can treasure them in box)
First Birthday
1. Record the voice.
2. Hand prints.
3. Decorate with his snaps. (It would be the best decorative stuff)
4. Ask all the guests to write their wishes on a card.
5. Make a card having all the 12 month snaps.
6. Collect the cash he received as gifts for his birthday & open a bank account. Deposit every
year.

Baby Record Book
What better way to record all the memories in a cute little book...There are many varieties available in the stores...However I prefer handmade ones.(However I haven't made one yet :-( )
We can use the templates...and be as creative as we can...I have attached few sample templates...
First year Diary book
Every month you can write diary for your baby... to note down the milestones & narrate the most memorable moments in their life…Which they will cherish later. It could be hand written one or a soft copy (word/pdf). I would suggest soft copy. Since it would be easily accessible & more over next generation would prefer that ;-)
Create a Site
It would be great if we have a personalized site in their name. I have it in Shutterfly.com. It is nice to have all the pictures (organized in form of albums), Blogs, Videos, Calendar (To capture the milestones), etc. in one place. You can also share this site with your family & friends
I am sure you are aware of most of the above suggestions. However I just jotted it down
...Because I did not knew it before :-)
Happy treasuring!!!
Eye test for a Four year old
Some days back , we happened to go to an eye hospital as my daughter who was four year old got some eye infection. As a routine, they asked us to do normal testing for the child. They gave her a big spectacles (which they use in the hospitals for testing the eye) and asked her to read the letters displayed. She got afraid about this big thing in her face and didn’t wanted to read. To escape from this, she stated that she cannot see.
We tried a lot, but in vain. The doctor marked the report as vision blurred. We got afraid. Such as small child. We contacted the family doctor who gave the suggestion that the next time when you go for testing, start reading from where she stopped.
It worked. The next time we asked her to read from the third line and she completed it. That tip worked. First the kid will be afraid when taken to a test and also they don’t have the patience to read the whole of that letters which is listed in the box.

1. Dr Bharath
When I came to bangalore, I found it pretty difficult to find a good pediatrician. I went to many doctors, but was not at all satisfied with their approach and also the treatment. As soon as we enter, they shower us with medicines. Antibiotics, syrup etc etc. I was so unhappy to give so much medicines to my little one. I was grown up taking homeo medicines and still prefer that. I couldnt find a good homeo doctor also here.
One day my friend happen to talk about one peadiatrition whom she was not so happy with. The reason being, the doctor was not willing to give medicines to the child. My friend was of the opinion that kids should be given medicines fast so that she can continue her office work. Even though I nodded with her opinion, I noted down the name and the address of the doctor.
We went to that doctor for the next vaccination. With the first visit itself, we were very impressed with him. He was so smooth and calm to the kid. MY child was comfortable in his hands. My child didn’t fuss much when doing all the checkups. This was not the case with the previous doctors. The child used to cry a lot when doing the checkups.
The doctor had a good talk also with us about the well being of the child. He is of the opinion that the child should be given less medicine which will help them to develop their natural immunity system.
We are pretty comfortable with the doctor now and I vote for him as the number one pediatrician in bangalore. His name is Dr Bharath and has a clinic in BTM 2nd stage and also one in Outer ring road, near Intel. In case anyone want his contact number, please send me a mail to cheerfulmomz@gmail.com.
I will try to collect information about other good pediatricians in bangalore and will keep updating this post. Hope this will become a good reference.

Child care - References
As soon as I came home after delivery, one small gift was waiting for me at my home. It was a book which was bought by my husband.
Baby and Child care - Dr Spocks.
An excellent reference for child care. Also I like to name it as the Enclyclopedia of Child care. If you have some doubht, just refer the index of that book, you are definite to find information there.
Secondly, any issue/ doubht, I do google search.. I have found that I am not the first person who is facing that issue and also who has the doubht. Many people had already gone through this and also might have found out solutions to the issues. It was also of great help to me.
So When in doubht, Ask Google !!!

Cheerful Momz
Every time a baby is born, a mother is born. As the baby learns to live and explore this beautiful world, the mother learns how to make his life easier. Day and Night, she puts all her efforts for this. Even though she does all that she could, she will always have a doubt in her mind.
“Am I doing correct? Is this the way it should be done? “
The questions from the elders make this more troublesome.
“Why the baby is crying? I think your milk is not enough for him”
Started the guilt feeling. My milk is not enough. She stars feeling sympathy towards the child, also gets angry with herself. She become tense. This will make the matter worse.
I have gone through all these situations and many a times, words from my mother and my friends were of great use to me.
I realized that the first and foremost thing a new mom should have is “Confidence in the self” and the belief that you know the child better than anyone. And from this belief, stems the fact that we are the person who should take a decision depending on our intuition.
And once we have this confidence, life becomes easier. We will be able to manage the child and also enjoy the days.
Babies/Kids will always learn from their parents. Good things slow and Bad things fast. As the baby grows, we will very well realize what all bad qualities are within us. Then as the child unlearns that habit, we will also change. We will also try to change our self. We will try to become as we want the kid to behave.
Many a times to understand their issues, we will have to think from their perspective. We will get a clear picture of their worries and also will be able to guide them better. Also we should have many tips to handle them and also to answer their questions. In short, we will have to be cheerful always.
This blog is to jolt down some experiences, good tips etc which we have learned from our experiences and also some good memories we have as a mother.
Enjoy reading.
